QuantEcon has launched a French edition of Python Programming for Economics and Finance: Programmation Python pour l’économie et la finance.
The edition went live on July 17, 2026, and covers the whole English series. Since August, it has also been linked from the language switcher (the globe icon) on the English site, alongside the Persian and Simplified Chinese editions.
The lectures were machine-translated from English with Anthropic’s Claude, using QuantEcon’s open-source action-translation tool and a French glossary that helps keep technical terms consistent across lectures. When an English lecture changes, the same tool translates the changed sections and opens a pull request on the French edition’s repository, where an automated review checks it before it is merged.
Emile Djohi, the edition’s French editor, is reviewing the translation as a native speaker, lecture by lecture. As of late September, he has reviewed five lectures, and his corrections are live on the site: Un exemple introductif, Fonctions, POO I : Objets et méthodes, Noms et espaces de nommage, and NumPy. Several of his terminology rulings have also been added to the glossary, so future updates use them. The rest of the edition has not yet had a native-speaker review.
